Driving support excellence at Middelburg branch

Middelburg branch has enjoyed significant growth in recent times for both the Volvo Construction Equipment and DAF Truck brands. To maximise service excellence and ensure continuous growth, Babcock has taken a decision to separate the management structures of the two brands. The initiative entails the establishment of dedicated management teams for both Volvo and DAF.

Driving support excellence at Middelburg branch

Effective February 1, 2024, the management of all DAF-related staff, over-the-counter parts sales and aftermarket activities at the Middelburg branch are now under the dedicated leadership of Babcock’s Transport Solutions business. Dave Black has been appointed to take charge of all DAF-related activities. The new structure bodes well for the continued growth trajectory of the DAF brand which, under the stewardship of Babcock, has gained massive traction, not only in the Middelburg area, but across South Africa.

The Middelburg branch stands out with its ultramodern 30 000 m² facility which houses a bespoke sales, parts and service dealership to offer unparalleled support and service to customers operating in the coal region. Designed to accommodate mega-trucks, the primary workshop comprises 12 nine-metre-wide work bays with a ceiling of 9 m under hook, as well as under-pit access, making it possible to service truck and trailer (interlink) combinations, including close coupled units.

The large warehouse facilities ensure efficient parts stockholding and high parts availability, thus maximising uptime for customers operating in the region.
