The new DAF XF105.510 Super Space Cab is sleek, with an emphasis on comfort and aerodynamics. It offers pure performance, making it the ultimate truck for long-distance haulage of goods. This new generation of trucks, launched in Europe mid last year, have set optimal standards in truck efficiency and driver comfort, with new drivelines and aerodynamic optimisations resulting in up to 7% lower fuel consumption.

Sales Executive for our Transport Solutions business, Alec Jackson, explains why this truck is unique in the southern African market: “The DAF XF105.510 Super Space Cab offers the same low operating costs and high uptime that our customers are accustomed to from DAF XF105 trucks, but with the added advantage of a super spacious, luxurious cab, a highly attractive exterior, it’s the most powerful engine that DAF Trucks has brought into the country. You could call them the Rolls Royce of trucks.” With one of the most polished looking fleets in the country, Midwest Bulk is regarded as a trendsetter in the industry. Sleek aesthetics and improved performance played a key role in Midwest Bulk’s purchasing decision. (See image gallery at the end of article)

Benefits

  • Lower weight for increased payload and an updated interior and exterior design
  • A choice of Space Cab and Super Space Cab, both with generous interior dimensions that provide more living, working and storage space than any other truck in its class.
  • A 12.9-litre PACCAR MX engine that delivers excellent performance, from 410 to 510 hp and a high torque between 2 000 and 2 500 Nm. The reduction in fuel consumption and low maintenance components will extend service intervals and reduce operating costs. (The DAF XF’s 510 horsepower engine is a first for us, and Midwest Bulk has conveyed that the new XF105 has already shown improved fuel consumption.)
  • A high-performance driveline that is balanced for optimisation under all operating conditions, making the most of the engine’s low fuel consumption. There is also a choice of either a 12-speed and 16-speed manual gearbox or the latest AS-Tronic automatic transmission.
  • A variety of axle configurations to ensure that the XF105 is ideally suited to each application.

Aerodynamic refinements

  • A stylish lower grille for increased air channelling and enhanced performance.
  • A wider field of vision for increased safety, with four large electrically adjustable and heated mirrors that offer a larger field of view for increased safety.
  • A Super Space Cab roof with an integrated aerodynamic sun visor and optional skylights.

At Babcock, we have an unshakable commitment to excellent customer service and strong work ethic. In 2010, we became the sole distributors of DAF Trucks in southern Africa, and have since made steadfast progress in a highly competitive market.
