A path to independence for Pertunia

Pertunia, a 32-year-old single mother from Hillbrow, Johannesburg, faced years of unemployment and financial hardship while raising her children. In 2022, she joined the YES Program, supported by Babcock as one of the Top 50 sponsors dedicated to youth employment. Placed at Afrika Tikkun Services as a Junior Administrator, Pertunia gained essential skills in customer service, event management, and effective communication while handling administrative tasks.

Her commitment and growth led to a permanent role as a Candidate HR Officer, where she now supports onboarding, database management, and the professional development of candidates. Pertunia credits Babcock’s sponsorship for providing her with the opportunity to transition to financial stability and pursue her ambition of mentoring youth. With plans to become a facilitator, she hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams.
