Babcock is proud to be recognized as one of the top 50 champions of the Youth Employment Service (YES), a ground-breaking public-private partnership launched by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2018. This commendation highlights Babcock's unwavering commitment to empowering South Africa’s youth and driving sustainable social change.
YES, funded entirely by the private sector, has become the largest full-time work experience programme in South Africa, having placed over 150,000 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds into meaningful opportunities within businesses. Each month, 3,000 to 4,000 youth join the programme, with many going on to become skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and leaders in their communities.
As part of YES, Babcock is proud to contribute to this transformative initiative that boasts remarkable post-programme results. Nearly half (45%) of YES graduates are absorbed into employment, while 15% establish their own businesses, creating jobs and driving economic growth.
We remain committed to deepening our collaboration with YES and driving impactful change together.
