Kagiso, 26, from Arekopaneng in Orange Farm, faced significant financial challenges before joining the Babcock-sponsored YES Program. As a Child and Youth Development Facilitator at the Arekopaneng Centre, she relied solely on her daughter’s child support grant to sustain her family. Unemployment created financial strain and limited opportunities, leaving Kagiso determined to find a way to improve her circumstances.
In 2022, she joined the YES Program, sponsored by Babcock as one of the Top 50 champions of youth employment. Based at the Arekopaneng Centre as an Assistant Advice and Referral Officer, Kagiso gained experience in recruitment, reception duties, and administrative tasks. These responsibilities helped her develop strong communication, organizational, and advisory skills while making meaningful contributions to her community.
Today, Kagiso holds a permanent position as an Advice and Referral Officer, providing financial stability for her family and improving their quality of life. She plans to pursue entrepreneurial goals, including opening a beauty salon, while continuing to grow professionally. Kagiso credits Babcock’s sponsorship for giving her the tools to transform her life and encourages others to embrace opportunities that foster growth and learning.
