Since load shedding also applies to contractors on site, standby power is necessary in order to complete a contract on time. Babcock’s standby power generator solutions range from 10kVa to 3.5mVa servicing, from large industrial, mining and commercial applications to smaller solutions needed for corporate and domestic markets. We recently received a R7.5 million contract for the supply of standby generator sets and maintenance of these units for a period of 4 years during the construction of Kusile Power Station.
At Babcock, we provide the best possible maintenance packages with our products. We have developed our own monitoring platform in order to monitor and diagnose generator status and performance remotely via any fixed or mobile data network. This enables the customer access to the monitoring platform to diagnose the generator set’s status and performance and proactively attend to any problems that may occur, providing huge savings and minimising any unnecessary support vehicles.
The generator sets for Kusile are designed and built by Babcock using 13 litre and 16 litre Volvo Penta diesel engines combined with Marelli 350 KVA and Engga 500 KVA alternators respectively and the units will be delivered at the end of October 2015.
