Bokang’s Journey

At Babcock, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and build a stronger future. Our apprenticeship program in South Africa is designed to address the country’s critical skills shortage, particularly in engineering and technical fields. One of the most inspiring examples of this commitment is the journey of Bokang, who started as a receptionist and is now set to qualify as a diesel mechanic in 2025.

Babcock’s Training School

Bokang’s story begins at Babcock’s training facility in Boksburg, Gauteng. This accredited center is recognized by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and various Sector Education and Training Authorities (Setas) in South Africa. Our programs cover a wide range of skills, including plant machine operation, occupational trades, and apprenticeships, all designed to meet the demands of the modern workforce.

Real-World Training

The training Bokang receives is backed by industry leaders like Volvo and DAF, ensuring that she and her fellow apprentices are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills. Our facility also incorporates cutting-edge technology, such as virtual reality welding simulators, to provide hands-on experience in a controlled environment.

Looking Ahead

As Bokang approaches her qualification in 2025, her journey reflects the broader mission of Babcock: to empower individuals with the skills they need to succeed. Her story is a testament to the impact of our apprenticeship program, which not only fills crucial gaps in the workforce but also provides opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Babcock’s apprenticeship program is more than just training—it’s about building a future where skilled professionals like Bokang can thrive. By investing in education and skills development, we’re not only supporting our industry but also contributing to the broader economic growth of South Africa.
