DAF trucks perform beyond WHJD Group’s expectations

WHJD Group, a Mpumalanga-based logistics company specialising in the transportation of coal and farm produce, has taken delivery of the first eight of its 10 DAF CF430 trucks. The fleet – delivered on 25 July – has been deployed in a coal transportation application.

DAF trucks perform beyond WHJD Group’s expectations

“The DAF CF430 has proven to be the ideal truck for our coal transportation operations,” says director Divan de Beer. “We have been impressed by the performance, efficiency, reliability and driver comfort.”

In choosing DAF, WHJD Group relied heavily on Babcock's strong reputation in the market. Divan’s father, who runs a completely separate business, Pentalin Group of Companies, has had a remarkable experience with Babcock.

“My father’s company runs in excess of 20 Volvo wheel loaders, supplied and supported by Babcock’s equipment division. They have over the years forged a strong relationship, which hinges on the outstanding aftermarket support offered by Babcock. Because of Babcock’s reputation, we decided to opt for DAF trucks.”

In addition, Divan says Babcock and DAF offer a total transport solution through a range of professional services that enable customers to select the right vehicle, secure financing and maintain truck fleets at peak efficiency.

“We financed our trucks through Babcock’s captive financing facility. For peace of mind, we have also taken a service contract for our whole fleet. Babcock’s total solutions approach to this deal was definitely a key factor in our decision to go the DAF route,” concludes Divan.
