The future looks bright for Andiswa

Andiswa Khumalo, a beneficiary of Babcock’s high school learner funding programme through the St Dunstan’s Foundation, recently matriculated at the St Dunstan’s College with flying colours. Andiswa – who walked away with six distinctions – was part of the four matriculants from the school who benefitted from the Babcock programme in 2019.

Babcock provides funding for educational programmes with specific focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The Babcock/St Dunstan College programme presents children from previously disadvantaged communities with an opportunity to study at St Dunstan’s College, a prestigious, independent Anglican School situated in Benoni, Gauteng. Between 2017 and 2019, Babcock/St Dunstan College programme has catered for 18 scholars, yielding a 100% pass rate with an above average pass mark since inception.

For her achievements, Andiswa was awarded the prestigious Bishop’s Award by the school. She has since successfully enrolled with the University of Cape Town to study Medicine, with a view to become a psychiatrist. Andiswa is grateful to Babcock for the opportunity to study and realise her dream. “All this has been made possible by Babcock’s kindness, which afforded me the opportunity to study and prove myself. My family and I will always be thankful,” she says.
