Achieving stability and building a future with Lebo

Lebogang, 21, from Orange Farm, faced significant challenges before joining the YES Program. Struggling to fund his business, Last Mile Delivery, and provide for his family, unemployment had a severe impact on his life. In June 2023, Lebogang joined the Babcock-sponsored YES Program through Afrika Tikkun Services and was hosted by the online delivery store, Drop24.

As a delivery intern, Lebogang’s duties included updating customers on the status of their deliveries, issuing invoices, packaging, labeling, and ensuring all parcels were delivered. This experience taught him valuable skills such as warehouse management, invoicing, packaging, and effective communication, which he used daily when interacting with customers.

The program had a profound impact on Lebogang’s life. Economically, he can now support his family and save money for his business. Socially, he has benefited from meeting new people and expanding his network. The program also led to a permanent job at Ampath, where he works as a driver and delivery team member.

Lebogang credits the YES Program and Babcock’s sponsorship for giving him the tools to succeed. “I’m grateful for this opportunity, which has changed my life,” he says. To other youth, he advises, “Keep searching for opportunities, stay positive, and believe in your hustle. Your efforts will pay off.”
