Africa Safety Star for March 2025

Congratulations to Johannes, from Plant Services - Jet Park, who has been awarded the Africa Safety Star for March 2025 for his outstanding contribution to workplace safety.

Johannes identified an opportunity to enhance safety at the lifting equipment load testing station, where equipment undergoes extreme pressure testing. He recognised a potential risk of uncontrolled projectiles in the event of equipment failure and took action to strengthen existing safety measures.

To address this, he designed and installed a custom safety shield—a metal plate that can be opened and closed—to provide an extra layer of protection to the at-risk section of the load bank. This proactive enhancement significantly reduces the risk of injury, ensuring a safer working environment.

Johannes’s initiative reflects Babcock’s culture of continuous improvement and care for colleagues, setting a strong example for workplace safety. His commitment to making a positive impact has improved daily operations and reinforced the importance of proactive risk management.
