Babcock invests in the innovators of tomorrow

Babcock continues its long-standing commitment to developing South Africa’s future engineering talent through its NextGen Engineering Bursary Programme. At the 2025 Eskom Expo International Science Fair, Babcock awarded four full bursaries to exceptional young learners who demonstrated innovation, curiosity, and a passion for problem-solving.

The bursaries are valued at R1.3 million each and cover tuition fees, textbooks, accommodation, meal allowances, and laptops - providing recipients with everything they need to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Engineering at any South African university of their choice.

This year’s recipients are:

  • Suprise Ndlovu from Boikagong Secondary School
  • Sohil Bharat from Newcastle High School
  • Mokgadi Ralefeta from Dendron High School
  • Simesihle Khuzwayo from King Bhekuzulu High School

Through initiatives like these, Babcock continues to invest in the country’s youth - empowering bright, determined learners to unlock their potential and build a sustainable future through engineering excellence. As a trusted name in engineering, Babcock believes that innovation begins with opportunity. By supporting tomorrow’s engineers today, we help shape a stronger, more skilled South Africa for generations to come.
