Christmas isn’t just a season—it’s a feeling of joy and giving. This spirit of generosity was the driving force behind Babcock’s recent initiative to support The Almond Tree Children’s Village, a registered non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing vulnerable children in family-style homes.
On a bright day in December, the Babcock team visited The Almond Tree in Benoni, bringing along a DAF truck loaded with Christmas goodies. Our employees rallied together, donating dry goods, clothing, shopping vouchers, and more. These contributions were carefully packed and delivered to the village, where they were met with eager smiles and cheers from the children.
The Almond Tree Children’s Village is home to 71 children, ranging from newborns to 16-year-olds. The village provides a safe, loving environment where children are raised with strong family values and access to education through its onsite preschool and primary school. As Zina, a representative from The Almond Tree, shared, “Our dream is to ensure that every child grows up in a family community where they can develop, dream, and thrive."
For the children, the highlight of the day was the chance to explore the impressive DAF truck. Sitting inside the cab, marveling at its spacious interior, and imagining endless possibilities brought joy and inspiration to their young hearts. Zina expressed her gratitude, saying, “We hope these experiences open up their vision for the future, encouraging them to dream about amazing careers and life achievements."
