Leadership and Safety Commitment

Congratulations to Nomzamo a technician working in our Bartlett branch, who has been named the Africa Safety Star for May 2025.

This well-deserved recognition celebrates Nomzamo’s dedication to workplace safety and the leadership she brings to her colleagues. Nomzamo has consistently exemplified courage, focus and an unwavering commitment to safe working practices.

In 2022, she stepped forward to become one of the workshop's SHE Representatives, a move that underscored her long-standing passion for health, safety and wellbeing. Since then, she has become a central figure in driving safety awareness and accountability at the site.

Her role goes well beyond the checklist. From ensuring that pre-task risk assessments are thorough and effective, to leading monthly SHE inspections and contractor inductions, Nomzamo integrates safety into the everyday rhythm of operations.

But what truly sets her apart is her influence on culture. A role model to many—particularly to new apprentices—Nomzamo’s leadership style is rooted in action, empathy and example. She’s helped build a safety-first mindset that is increasingly visible across teams.

Most recently, she took it upon herself to deliver Toolbox Talks to both workshop and field service teams, speaking from the heart about why safety matters—not just in procedure, but in practice.

Nomzamo’s ability to speak with clarity, confidence and conviction has earned her the respect of her colleagues and cemented her role as a safety ambassador within Babcock.

Well done, Nomzamo—you are making a lasting impact.
