Celebrating Safety Innovation – Thamsanqa Named Africa Safety Star for August 2025

Thamsanqa was recognised for his innovative yet practical approach to encouraging open communication and proactive reporting of potential hazards.

As part of an initiative driven by the Principal Contractor on site, a competition was launched across four companies to find new ideas that enhance near-miss reporting. Among the strong entries, Thamsanqa’s proposal stood out.

This simple yet powerful solution was praised for its inclusivity and lasting impact. By nominating a dedicated individual, teams can ensure near-miss observations are consistently reported, even when some workers may feel hesitant.
