In response to the increasing demand for rental and rent-to-own options for DAF trucks, Babcock has introduced a new program in South Africa, allowing customers to operate a new DAF truck on a rental basis with lower monthly instalments compared to an outright purchase.
Operate a New DAF Truck for under R50k per month
Mark Gavin, Sales Director for Babcock's Transport Solutions business, emphasises that this offering caters to customers across various sectors, including logistics, construction and mining, who require durable and fuel-efficient transportation solutions. "Given the current economic climate, operators are seeking ways to reduce monthly overheads without sacrificing productivity," says Gavin. "This rental option enables eligible customers to access a brand-new, fuel-efficient DAF 6x4 Truck Tractor starting at R48,127* per month, with the potential for no upfront deposit."
At the conclusion of the contract term—typically ranging from 36 to 60 months—operators are presented with flexible options: they can continue operating the truck for an additional year, upgrade to a new vehicle, or return the truck with a guaranteed buyback, thus eliminating the burden of reselling the asset.
For operators interested in ownership at the end of the lease period, an operating lease option is also available. The application process for rental is streamlined, and certain models are available for immediate delivery upon financial approval.
Customised Service, Maintenance, and Repair (SMR) Contracts
To ensure optimal maintenance throughout the truck's lifecycle, a Service, Maintenance, and Repair (SMR) contract is mandatory with every rental agreement, provided at an additional cost. These contracts can be tailored to meet specific business requirements. Babcock offers two tiers of R&M contracts—Deluxe and Advantage—which include scheduled services at Babcock-approved service centres. Optional services can also be added, such as national breakdown support, recovery, and coverage for key components including the chassis, axles, engine, gearbox, cab, braking system, electrical components and batteries.
