SDLG H Series wheel loaders for agriculture

Babcock brings SDLG H-Series wheel loaders to Southern Africa’s farms

Babcock is expanding its construction equipment line-up with a farming-focused twist - introducing the latest SDLG H-Series wheel loaders in agricultural spec for Southern Africa. Following the successful regional rollout of SDLG’s new-generation excavators, the company has now added two compact wheel loaders to its offering: the L918H and L938H.

Purpose-built for farming environments, these machines are designed to tackle everything from daily loading to more specialised on-farm handling tasks.

Compact Machines, Big Farm Impact

With farms demanding more adaptable and space-efficient equipment, the L918H (1.8-tonne payload) and L938H (3.5-tonne payload) step in as smart, versatile options. Both models are available in agri-specific configurations - including quick hitch systems and forks - making them well-suited for fast-paced, mixed-use operations.

“These loaders are built for flexibility,” says Mark Senyard, SDLG Product Manager at Babcock. “They’re compact enough for tight spaces, but powerful enough to handle jobs like moving crates, lifting fencing, or shifting bulk materials - all on the same machine.”

The L918H, with its 6.7-tonne operating weight, is offered exclusively in an agricultural set-up. It includes both a quick hitch bucket and fork attachment, allowing operators to switch tools in seconds - no wrenches, no wasted time.

The L938H takes it a step further with a bigger payload and the option of a general-purpose or agri-specific kit. Hydraulic piping comes standard, enabling support for a range of attachments beyond the standard offering.

Scalable options for broader use

While the focus is on compact loaders, Babcock’s H-Series range also includes the heavier L946H (4-tonne payload) and L958H (5.8-tonne payload), ideal for bulk handling or larger farming co-ops. These models can also be deployed in municipal and light mining applications, extending the machine’s life and value beyond traditional agri use.

Support beyond the sale

To back up the iron, Babcock offers service plans tailored to farming needs - helping customers manage maintenance schedules, control costs, and keep machines in the field where they belong. Support includes OEM-approved parts, condition-based servicing, and access to the latest SDLG updates.

“We’re not just delivering machines - we’re making sure they stay productive for the long haul,” says Senyard.
