Tshepho, 32, from Kempton Park, Johannesburg, struggled with unemployment and financial hardship before joining the YES Program. While at home applying for jobs, he faced the difficulty of not being able to afford even basic needs or school application fees, which severely impacted his motivation and confidence.
In June 2023, Tshepho joined the YES Program, supported by Babcock, one of the Top 50 champions of youth employment. He began with a month of work readiness training through Afrika Tikkun Services before transitioning to his host site, Droppa. His role as an intern included customer service, managing communications through various channels, coordinating bookings, and handling administrative tasks.
Through the YES Program, Tshepho developed essential skills such as customer service, organizational abilities, multitasking, system usage, project coordination, and report writing. These skills helped him move into his current role as a Driver Relations Manager at Droppa, where he oversees drivers and manages parcel deliveries.
The program has significantly impacted Tshepho’s life, providing financial stability and professional growth. He envisions a future in a senior role where he can make impactful decisions and help other young people achieve their goals. Tshepho credits Babcock’s sponsorship for giving him the opportunity to transform his career and encourages others to keep searching for opportunities.
“To Babcock, thank you for this chance to move closer to my dreams. Your support has made a difference in my life. To youth everywhere: stay persistent; great opportunities are out there, and they will come."
