Anelisa Njolwana, 30, from Mfuleni, Cape Town, faced immense challenges before joining the YES Program. After completing her Diploma in Hospitality and Catering Services at Boland College in 2023, Anelisa struggled with unemployment, often selling clothing for an unsustainable income. The stress of not being able to support her family was overwhelming.
In January 2023, Anelisa joined Afrika Tikkun Services, completing the End User Computer Course and the Work Readiness Programme. By June 2023, she was contracted to the Babcock-sponsored YES Program, an opportunity that brought new hope.
Hosted by Premier Business Solutions and Technology as an administrator, Anelisa learned valuable new skills over 12 months. Her communication and confidence grew, along with her abilities in efficiency, resilience, collaboration, and administrative processes. Despite challenges, she stayed committed to doing her best and received mentorship that reinforced her positive outlook.
In May 2024, Anelisa’s hard work paid off when she was absorbed as a permanent employee, starting on June 1, 2024. “I am now able to pay rent, buy food, and support my family,” she says. Anelisa is grateful to Babcock and Afrika Tikkun Services for the opportunity that changed her life and hopes such programs continue to empower youth.
