Leadership announcement in Babcock Africa

Babcock has announced leadership changes in two of its major operating divisions – Equipment and Plant Services – effective October 2025. These appointments form part of Babcock’s continued commitment to strong succession planning and sustainable leadership across its operations in Africa.

At Babcock’s Equipment business, Tim Ward has been appointed Managing Director, succeeding David Vaughan, who has retired from his role after many years of dedicated service. Vaughan, who took up the position in November 2016, will remain closely involved with the business as Executive Chairman until his planned retirement in October 2026. In this advisory role, he will continue to provide strategic guidance and ensure a smooth transition.

Ward previously served as Financial Director for the Equipment business, bringing a deep understanding of Babcock’s operations and strong commercial acumen.

“Tim Ward brings not only strong commercial insight but also a deep understanding of our business. He looks forward to building on the strong foundation already in place as he takes responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Equipment business,” says Roger O’Callaghan, CEO of Babcock International Group Africa.

In the Plant Services division, Hendrik du Toit has been appointed Managing Director, following the retirement of Deon Verreyne. Du Toit, who has been with Babcock for nearly three decades, brings extensive operational experience and a deep understanding of Babcock’s people, customers, and markets. Verreyne will continue to support the business as Executive Chairman until March 2026 to ensure leadership continuity and a seamless handover.

“Having been with Babcock for nearly three decades, Hendrik du Toit brings extensive operational experience and a deep understanding of our people, customers and markets. His leadership will ensure continuity at Plant Services while positioning the business for future growth,” concludes O’Callaghan.

With these appointments, Babcock Africa continues to build on a legacy of strong leadership, customer focus, and long-term value creation across its operations.
