Babcock Showcases Innovation and Collaboration at the African Petrochemical and Energy Roadshow

On 30 October, Babcock made a striking impression at the African Petrochemical and Energy Roadshow held at Stonehaven on Vaal, Sasolburg.

Our outdoor stand was alive with activity as delegates engaged with our teams and explored Babcock’s engineering, plant-hire and power-generation capabilities. Visitors discovered how our integrated approach supports South Africa’s energy and process industries through safe, efficient and sustainable project delivery — from large-scale industrial maintenance and turnaround work to complex new builds.

The simulator drew a steady stream of interest throughout the day, as both seasoned operators and younger delegates queued for a hands-on experience. The immersive virtual welding tool replicates realistic arc and puddle behaviour, offering instant feedback — all without the risks or costs of traditional welding.

Together, Babcock and Lincoln Electric engaged the audience with lively discussions around technical excellence, skills development and the future of industrial service. The day served as a powerful demonstration of how innovation and collaboration can drive South Africa’s energy and process sectors forward.
