A Powerful New Voice in Energy

Babcock has reaffirmed its commitment to shaping South Africa’s energy landscape through its active participation at the SANEA Leadership Symposium, a forum where policymakers, industry experts and business leaders come together to interrogate challenges, test ideas and explore the country’s energy direction.

Unlike traditional conference formats, this year’s symposium centred on open, outcomes-driven dialogue. The approach provided valuable insight into national priorities, emerging sector trends and the pressures facing energy stakeholders across the value chain.

As part of the programme, Babcock proudly sponsored and presented the SANEA Project Excellence Award, which this year recognised bp Southern Africa’s BPowered initiative—a practical, people-focused solution delivering clean, portable energy to communities most affected by outages. The award celebrates innovation that creates meaningful impact, aligning closely with Babcock’s commitment to enabling sustainable progress in the sector.

A significant highlight for Babcock was the announcement that, SANEA appointed Welma Prinsloo as a Board Member and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. This prestigious role places her at the centre of SANEA’s governance, contributing directly to oversight, operational integrity and strategic direction.

Welma’s appointment strengthens Babcock’s voice in national energy leadership and underscores the organisation’s growing influence across the energy value chain.
