Elvis wins Africa Safety Star for December

Guided by Babcock’s value of “Be Curious,” Elvis took a closer look at everyday workshop tasks to identify opportunities for improvement. He noticed that technicians were often delayed when searching for separate front and rear wheel chock blocks — a small challenge that could impact both efficiency and safety.

The improvement not only speeds up workflow but also ensures tyres are secured from both ends — a critical safety step during vehicle maintenance. Previously, time spent locating a second chock could result in delays or inconsistent use.
 

Since introducing the idea, technicians have reported smoother operations, reduced downtime and improved consistency in safety procedures. The solution has been embraced across branches, with many colleagues noting that the idea reflects not only curiosity, but also “Be Kind” — making daily tasks easier while helping everyone stay safe.
